Hello! You thought there was only The Joy Luck Club? Well you were wrong! It's not all about mother-daughter writing and about the perils of assimilation. Asian American Literature comprises the chick-lit of Caroline Hwang to the detective novels of Naomi Hirahara, to the experimental work of Theresa Hak Kyung Cha. It's an exciting time to be an Asian American literature fan.
This is a community for people to discuss Asian American literature. Topics can range from big debates in the field or general help with a reading of a particular text. This is also a place where you can post your book reviews of new Asian American literature authors you have found and would like more people to read. As Asian American Literature Fans continues to evolve, we will occasionally review writers who may not hail from Asian backgrounds or ancestries. This move is to highlight occasionally texts in allied fields (such as African American literature, indigenous literatures, Latinx literatures, GLBTQIA literatures, etc) that dovetail with the social justice issues that we often engage in and explore in our reviews.
