Yah! One of these days, I'll have to figure out where I stand on terminology, I guess. It's so complicated, and all yet more evidence that words really help shape the way we see, understand, and engage with the world. In some ways, I guess I lean more towards people who want to take up all the transnational, diasporic, and migration-aware work yet still are entirely uncomfortable with giving up "American" as an operative term/space. With Asians in particular, it just feels like conversations about the Asian diaspora means Asians everywhere in the world except the US. :P Maybe we should come up with a new term in this community that would work better for these complex ideas! :D
