Things You Sometimes Do No Want Want to Admit: Case #1

So, I've been thinking lately about some of the Asian American writers that I've been avoiding. One is Laura Joh Rowland. I find her book covers a little bit scary and I wonder sometimes whether or not I should just bite the bullet and give these books a shot. Has anyone read anything from the Sano Ichiro Series?



I know to a certain extent these covers play off of ukiyo, but the marketing is obviously also catering to a cearly American orientalist depiction as well (or maybe not)?
