Drop . . . Dead: The DJ Murders, by Tonne Serah. Here's a forthcoming novel set in the San Francisco club scene starring an "Asian-American hero." I'm sure it's pulp fiction at its best!

I taught Philip Kan Gotanda's play Yankee Dawg You Die today. I hadn't read Gotanda before teaching him, and I was a bit surprised that the Vincent Chang character seems to have an unspoken gay side. I googled the play to see what kind of criticism there is out there and discovered that George Takei, recently out, is playing Vincent in a San Jose production starting tomorrow!

Anyhoo, what plays have y'all read by Asian American writers? Aside from the ubiquitous M. Butterfly (many of my colleagues, non-Asian Americanists, actually teach it in our first-year poetry/drama course), I don't really know many plays. I've also assigned Jeannie Barroga's Walls later in the semester so I'll finally get around to reading it, having read about it in Lisa Lowe's book a few times.
