I have such conflicted feelings about David Henry Hwang's M. Butterfly. I don't know if I could see it onstage, but Randy Reyes being "unconvincing" as a woman is certainly interesting. I like your take on it since it does make Gallimard (as a symbol of the West in general) seem even more foolish, which is even more realistic.
